How to Assign a Shift Category Manager and Understand Their Permissions in WeezCrew

In WeezCrew, you can appoint a Shift Category Manager (for example: Stage 1 Manager, Bar Category Lead, etc.) to delegate team management on the ground without granting access to the entire event.

Step 1: Register the Member in the System

Before appointing someone as a Category Manager, they must exist in your event's database:

  • Either by having them fill out a registration form in advance.

  • Or by manually adding them in the Members module.

Step 2: Step-by-Step Procedure to Assign a Category Manager

  1. Navigate to the Shifts module.

  2. Click on the relevant shift category (e.g., Stage 1).

  3. Locate the Manager box on the page and click to add a member.

  4. Search for and select the desired person.

  5. Choose the permission level to grant (see details below): Project manager, publisher or Reader Mission Manager.

  6. Click Save.

The member will automatically receive an email containing a link to log into their dedicated portal.

Step 3: Permission Levels: Publisher vs. Reader

  • Project manager, publisher:

    • Can manage and update volunteer/staff assignments across their category's missions.

    • Can send email campaigns targeted exclusively to people assigned to their category's missions.

    • Note: They cannot edit or alter the mission settings themselves.

  • Reader Mission Manager

    • Read-only access (data viewing only).

    • Cannot modify assignments, send email campaigns, or edit mission settings.

Step 4: What Does a Category Manager's Interface Look Like?

When a Category Manager logs into WeezCrew, their interface is simplified and restricted strictly to their assigned scope:

  • Streamlined Sidebar: Access to only 4 main modules: Members, Shifts, Assignments, and Campaigns.

  • Targeted Member Visibility: In the Members module, they only see individuals assigned to their shifts (along with their own profile).

  • Targeted Shifts Visibility: In the Shifts module, only missions within their category appear.

  • Restricted Communication: In the Campaigns module, they can only contact volunteers and staff assigned to their specific time slots.
