How to Create a Shift Directly from the Map in WeezCrew

Discover how to quickly set up a new shift by placing a pin directly onto your event's map.

The map view in the Shifts module allows you to position on-site stations with pinpoint geographic accuracy. Placing markers directly on the map enables fast shift creation while keeping all ground locations clearly organized.

Steps to Create a Shift on the Map

  1. Access the Shifts Module: From your main event navigation menu, open the Shifts module.

  2. Switch to Map View: At the top of the interface, switch the display layout from List View to Map View.

  3. Manage GPX Tracks: If a GPX track has already been uploaded, it displays on the map automatically.

    • To add a new course (useful for road races, trails, or specific parade routes), click Track > Add a Track and upload your file.

  4. Place a Pin on the Map:

    • Navigate the map and click directly on the exact ground location intended for your post.

    • A pin automatically drops at that location. You can drag and reposition the marker at any time if adjustments are needed.

  5. Open the Creation Wizard: Click Create a Shift. The shift setup wizard opens with the exact GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) pre-filled.

  6. Fill Details and Adjust Settings:

    • Enter the shift name and operational description.

    • Link an active GPX track if applicable.

    • Select the preferred map background layer (e.g., Satellite, Street Map).

    • Set the default zoom level for on-site staff.

  7. Save the Shift: Click the save/create button at the bottom of the form to finalize your new geolocated shift.
